Individual counseling
Individual counseling
With your personal strengths and my knowledge and experience, we have a very good basis for achieving the desired outcome. For successful individual counseling, the most important thing is the relationship between the psychologist and the client. For forming our relationship, it is important how well we understand each other, how much we can trust each other, whether we can speak the same language that will lead us in the direction of the desired change. Many theories of different psychotherapeutic schools try fitting people into their theories. I believe I have to incorporate what I know into your theory, your everyday life, your way of functioning. By combining our knowledge and experience, we create a team. There is no hierarchy when working with me. I don’t know everything. We work together to achieve what you want.
My typical client is described less by the problem that caused him to call me, and more by his characteristics. With your strengths and my knowledge and experience, we have a pretty good guarantee for achieving the desired outcomes.
The clients with whom I have more experience come from some typical areas:
Company owners and managers
This business domain is characterized by a fairly high pressure for excellent performance. Achievement is sought on a daily basis, the environment is mostly dynamic and changing, and such circumstances cause a lot of stress and require a lot of adaptation.
Companies owners often, from the position when they were their own company, built a system with more employees, which significantly changes their role. They become both owners and employees and must manage people. Sometimes the same skills that enabled personal and business breakthroughs become characteristics that hinder further growth. Managing a business and a group of people requires personal change and adjustment that sometimes deviates from the way the business owner is used to functioning. Understanding and redefining the moment in which the business owner finds himself is important for personal well being and for the good of the company. A business owner is also a person who needs a good balance between work and private life. The change he wants to achieve is often reflected in all parts of life, not just business.
People in managerial positions are exposed to demands from several levels. They must manage relations with superiors and subordinates, organize and perform work. In addition to their business role, they have to satisfy other roles in society and their other needs: family, social, emotional… They often work long hours, it is difficult to organize quality time because it depends on other people and factors beyond personal control. To be successful, they must work with people they are not compatible with and push them to their best possible performance. In doing so, they must learn how and where to set personal boundaries and how to accept compromise. It is important that they recognize their skills and abilities in order to rely on them more, while at the same time hiding the characteristics that get in their way.
Professional athletes and coaches
When I started doing individual counseling as a psychologist, working with athletes was my main focus. In the course of my education, I was trained as a specialist in the psychological preparation of athletes – a sports psychologist.
Psychological preparation in sports is very specific. Everything is measured by a very specific result. Athletes and teams are clearly ranked. To excel in business and personal life is already a great achievement. In sports, sometimes even that is not enough. Sometimes athletes train hard, achieve remarkable results, but know they can do even more. The pressure is very high. Often, psychological preparation is an unexplored part of sports preparation that provides an opportunity for additional progress and realization of one’s potential. Every week there is a competition where the athlete is exposed to evaluation. Every training is a fight for millimeters of progress. Such an environment requires a special mindset in order for the athlete to perform to the best of his abilities, despite the numerous interfering factors. Although the result is an external measure, we generally perform best when we are fully focused on our performance. Achieving your best performance at the right moment is a difficult task in which a sports psychologist can be a crucial asset.

Building your career
Young people who care about their development and their career understand how much advantage a good psychological preparation can give them. I have a lot of experience in working with young people who are at the beginning of their business or sports journey.
In sports, we are dealing with teenagers and young people who are above average and are moving towards a career that sport brings. This often means balancing school or student obligations with sports and dealing with the typical problems that sports bring. It is necessary to evaluate the relationship with the coach, the relationships in the family, to be able to face successes and failures and to keep the focus on personal development. The stage of transition from junior to senior sport is the most difficult in a sports career, and preparations for it must start on time. Sometimes a difficult decision has to be made to continue playing or give up a sport. Whatever decision is made, it is important for the young people who have decided to fully learn something about himself and with this knowledge, face future challenges more easily.
Young people who are at the beginning of building their career in a business context often find it difficult to reconcile their ambition with the circumstances in which they find themselves. They can be confused about making the right decisions that will help them in the best possible way in their career and personal life. Today’s society encourages us to think that we should have been more successful by now, so young people are often impatient, which makes it difficult for them to function on a daily basis. In such a case, it is important to understand your motivation, your values and create a stable system that will guide you through life. Once we are clearer about what we want, how we want to achieve it and what things are important to us, we can face all challenges. I use my personal experience of business development and the experience of working with young people who, in contact with me, decided to fully utilize their capacities. Each of us has unique potentials, challenges and goals. I believe that I can help you use your strengths as much as possible to be the best you can be.
Personal growth
The domain of personal counseling in psychotherapy is very broad and can cover various areas. Perhaps you are coming as a parent of an athlete who wants to know how to help and how to have a better relationship with your child. You may be having problems with your partner or in your relationship in general, so this is an area where you want to improve. Maybe you have problems with self-confidence, impatience, have a hard time setting boundaries or want to change in some other way. If you are motivated, I’m sure we can rely on some things you’re already doing well and work together to make the change you want.

Couples therapy
I think that the domain in which the psychologist works is less important than the type of clients with whom the psychologist can effectively, in an aesthetically pleasing way, bring about the change that the client or clients want. Sometimes people who come to work on their partner issues want to know how I, with my background in sports and business, can help them. I believe I understand dynamic people who are oriented towards better and more, regardless of the field we are talking about. It happens that two people, in their aspirations to achieve a better life, forget to include their partners in the right way and turn them into opponents. By working on communication skills, especially listening and understanding, in couples therapy we can achieve a change that enriches the relationship between two people. If there is love and passion in your relationship, but it often translates awkwardly into a relationship, we can move in the direction of changes that will help you.
Others about me
Enrico Marotti
Pero is a person that is commited and passionate about his job. Loving what he does, he’s enjoying every session, working and looking for progress. He is a kind of person up for a challenge, full of expert knowledge, with amazing will to help. I have always known what I want, and he taught me and is still teaching me the most important thing… HOW?! How to be the best version of yourself! We were working for 4,5 yrs and I keep waiting for out next session! For me, Pero was the turning point in my career.
Milica Mladenović PhD
Just like so many ambitious career people, every day I am exposed to great external and internal pressure that is visible through various symptoms. Determined to address some of them, I began working with Petar. I learned how to improve my focus, prioritize, use my time more efficiently, define and limit my activities. It would be understated to say that has made me more productive, rested, at peace and a better manager. Petar defines the problem at its core and then he offers tools to solve it. Always prepared and organized, his presentation is easy going, which is relaxing and makes everything simpler and easier to get over. But, what makes Petar really special is that he loves people. He really loves his calling and he cares. In a crazy and fast business world, at least one Petar is necessary to stop the time, to make us look at the challenge from a different perspective and to get the best out of us.

Due to accumulated stress as a consequence of working on my PhD, developing my own business and living in a new country, I decided to look for psychologist’s help. I wanted to balance fulfilling my ambition and lowering stress. Considering the nature of the problems, I thought working with someone focused on development of human capacities would be best for me. I met Petar previously in my life through successful business partnership. In the first few contacts with Petar, his organizational skills and professionalism were obvious. Soon I approached him determined to solve my problems. We first identified the issues and set clear goals. In the next meetings, Petar used series of tools within cognitive-behavioral therapy to make me aware of my thinking distortions. Between sessions I had clear tasks that tested my distorted beliefs and corrected them gradually. I will not go overboard if I say I felt better after each session.

My relationship with Petar I would rate to be a straight A. Petar was always there for me, ready to listen to me and, more importantly, he had a solution for every situation I found myself in. Also, he was full of understanding for me. Although I am forgetful, he was always there to remind me of every little thing. Most of all, he helped me grow as a player and as a man, since it was the essence of our work together. I’m glad that the confirmation we’ve worked good and that both of us were happy during that time, is that we turned our business relationship into a friendly one.

Working with Peter was very useful for me and after each meeting I felt better than before. He helped me a lot in the preparation of important matches, especially in concentrating on my tasks. I have made progress in understanding how my behavior and thinking affects my game. Also, through specific tasks, I increased motivation within the training.
